300 year old stables with many features including original oak
beams, stone alcoves etc. Outstanding views down the Combs Valley
and up to Castle Naze and Combs Moss. Situated in the Peak District
National Park, Britain's first National Park with its moors, fields
and woodlands with an abundance of wildlife. Old traditions thrive
from dressing wells and springs in celebration of water, to sheepdog
trials and agricultural shows.
Situated near Kinder Scout and Edale (the bottom of Pennine Way) there's lots to do, both indoors and outdoors from painting varied flora or photographing orange sunsets over rugged peaks to long distance path walks, scaling rock faces, a round of golf or angling. Within easy driving distance are the great houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Kedleston Hall, Lyme Hall (TV's Pride and Prejudice location) and others. The Spa town of Buxton (the highest market town in England) is only three miles away with its famous Opera House featuring a varied programme throughout the year. Renowned for its Buxton Festival fortnight with its opera and fringe concerts and the annual International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival. |
